With Antiquated Systems no longer being an effective method of working, Duty Holders have found it increasingly more difficult to manage their Health and Safety Compliance in the wake of recent Legislative and Financial Pressures. During the Workshop together, we will identify and share common issues, before exploring better processes and procedures.

The law requires clients to make suitable arrangements for managing a project, and maintain and review these arrangements throughout the project, so managing the health and safety risks from asbestos.
This seminar will look at CAR 2012 and CDM 2015, and the roles of the client, analyst and removal contractor, in relation to effective communications to ensure the responsibilities of all parties are met.
14.15 - 14.45
Holger Kessler
The evolution and application of 3D modelling within the infrastructure and environmental consultancy sector is resulting in increased economic, social and environmental impacts from its application. This talk will give recent examples of BGS ground modelling for key clients and set this within the context of the BGS national geological model and will also present the results of a recently completed Innovate UK funded project with Keynetix bringing the subsurface directly into the BIM workflow.
15.45 - 16.15
Terry Slater
Workers should expect a pleasant environment to decontaminate in, with the aid of technology this is possible with the bonus we can manage out the bad decision-making processes the less disciplined workers adopt. Poor decontamination discipline is a big problem in the industry that effects not just the person who failed to follow procedure, it also harms everyone that person meets later that day.
11.15 - 11.45
Simon Lonsdale
We have surpassed the inflection point for electric vehicles as a perfect storm of factors are now upon us. Governments are rolling out policies to motivate the shift to electric mobility, car companies are investing in the tech, consumer demand is at an all-time high, private investment has increased, and climate concerns are driving innovation and interest. To support the mass adoption of EVs, a comprehensive, collaborative ecosystem is required.
12.00 - 12.30
Dan Williams, Chair of EIC's Air Quality Working Group
With air pollution claiming thousands of lives a year and high up the political agenda there is an urgent need to combine smart policy making and technological innovation to deliver high air quality technical standards that are effectively enforced. Dan will look at the role of The Environmental Industries Commission and its member companies in making this happen.
12.45 - 13.15
Bénédicte Amiel
The management of hazardous waste has become a growing concern. Plasma melting is giving an ecological solution by turning a hazardous waste into an inert and stable glassy product which can be valorised. The plasma technology is considered as the best available technology for hazardous waste treatment thanks to the very high temperature reached by plasma. It answers regulation changes in terms of waste management and emissions control.

Mike will highlight how drones and new 3D digital visualisation techniques continue to transform the ground investigation process and the communication of complex findings to third parties through creation of a BIM ready digital ground model.
The benefits will be highlighted by illustrating their use in the real world example of a large redevelopment project where 20,000m of soil was re-engineered into a former quarry to enable new residential development.
